| This
picture was sent by Ron Cuny --- here are his
words: I thought you might be interested in a photo of Troop 120 which marked the original silver knapsack trail in 1949. I was 12 at the time we made the inaugural trip. The members who also made that trip included George Leiby, George Nadow, Earl Graham, Gene Graham, Jim Kennedy, Red Jackson (our scout master), myself [the littlest and youngest] and five others whose names I can't remember. For main provision we carried WW II surplus powdered eggs along with flour, bacon, and plenty of peanuts. Red Jackson was killed in an auto accident a year later. |

Does this shed look familiar? It's the old building
that was
located on the upper flat area in front of Ute campsite. It was,
at times, the Commissary, Trading Post, Handicraft Lodge, Program
Office, Leader Lounge, to name a few. It collapsed in the snow
load during the winter of 1969-70. (Read a note from John Henry, the staff member in this picture) |

| The
Neckerchief Slide,
pictured on the left, was hand casted in plaster from a mold created by
Bobbie Nelson, the wife of Camp Ranger Jim Nelson. Bobby and Jim
created
the Beaver, made the casts, poured the plaster, and hand painted each
slide.
The proceeds went to staff activities, including the final staff
banquets. .. Because of their fragile nature, few undamaged slides remain. .. Thanks to Dave Dobbs for this picture of his "Nelson" slide. |
